The Advanced Art class will also be premiering their stop motion animations. Dinner will be served after the presentations. It's going to be a wonderful event to celebrate all the hard work our students have been putting into their work in their arts classes and sports teams this year. Don't miss out!

The Spring Concert is coming up next week on Wednesday the 15th. We'll be seeing musical performances from the 7th and 8th grade music classes. These talented musicians have been working hard all semester on some new songs and are ready to share them with the school. The concert will start at 2:15 and go to 3pm. This is always one of the best school day events of the year. Can't wait!
The SFUSD Arts Festival is coming up next week! We will have students from the Drama class performing at the Asian Art Museum next Thursday and Friday and we have 6 paintings from the Art class up in the museum as well. There will be an reception for the festival on Thursday May 2nd at the Asian Art Museum from 5-8pm. It is free and open to the public. If you can't make the reception the show will be open from 4/27-5/5 and there are performances each day. Come on out and support the arts in SFUSD schools! Visit the SFUSD Arts Festival page for more information and a calendar of events and performances. The 7th grade Art classes made some prints of important activists that they put around the school. They are in classrooms, in the halls, in offices, and the library. See if you can find them all and learn something about people who are doing something to change the world! San Francisco Symphony is bringing in trumpets and trombones and are teaching 20 kids over 3 periods once a week. I, for one, cannot wait to see how these new instruments are incorporated into the band!
Our annual and much anticipated winter concert is coming up on Thursday, December 20th! The concert will be held during 4th period (1:33-3PM) and will feature musical performances from the 7th and 8th grade Music classes. All VVMS students will be attending and there will be reserved seats in the front of the auditorium for family members of performing students. I, for one, can't wait!
The Opera Parallel came into work with the Drama class. Students learned about costume and set design as well as singing and acting. Students got to work with a performer and her costume which she brought in.
This year the 8th grade Advanced Art Class made 4 altars for Dia de los Muertos that include work from their class and the 7th grade Art Classes. The students put a lot of work into these projects honoring people who have passed away. There are 2 altars in the main lobby, one in the window outside the main office, and one in the display cabinet outside of room 100. Make sure to check out the amazing work!
